COVID-19 Testing

Available Testing Locations

If your child needs COVID-19 testing, please refer to our guide below, your Texas Children’s pediatrician or Urgent Care for COVID-19 test scheduling. Please keep in mind, the best time to test for COVID-19 is at least 3 days after the exposure.

Health authorities encourage patients and families to get tested for COVID-19 if you think you or your child have it or were in contact with someone who tested positive.

Pediatrician

If your child needs a COVID-19 test OR has any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Cold/flu-like symptoms
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Tiredness

Emergency Center

If your child has been exposed to COVID-19 OR has tested positive AND has the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • High fever
  • Severe stomach pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Rash
  • Neck pain
  • Red eyes
  • Red, cracked lips
  • Swollen hands or feet
  • Swollen glands
