Personal Statement
Nicole Bernard, M.D. is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She attended Washington University in St. Louis, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences with Honors in Psychology in 2005. After teaching in East St. Louis, and building with Habitat for Humanity she returned to Texas for medical school. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2012, and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Children’s Medical Center.
As a global health scholar, she has traveled to work in pediatrics in Ecuador, Kenya, and Haiti. As a native Austinite, she sought to bring global health home to Austin, as one of the founding co-directors of the C.D. Doyle Clinic, serving the local indigent and homeless community of Austin.
She is married to Andrew Peppard, her best friend from childhood, and enjoys travel, being a foodie, live music, and Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake).
